The Leicester junior league (L.J.L.) is one of the most populated in the country.
Besides this, the Leicestershire schools table tennis association (L.S.T.T.A.) runs local team and individual championship events where winners go through to represent the county at national level.
For the 2024/25 season, organisers are working on entry’s being similar to last year,  having 4 teams per division with a maximum of 9 divisions.
Play takes place on Saturday mornings at Leicester Grammar School (London Road, Great Glen, LE8 9FL). Players should report by 08.45am for a 09.00am start. Play will finish by 1.00pm at the latest.
Teams for each match will consist of 2 players, although at least 3 have to be registered for each team. All 3 (or more) players can play in any/all the events as there will be (subject to entries) 3 matches for each team in each division (of 4). for example…..
Match 1: player(s) 1 vs 1 – 2 vs 2 – 1 vs 2 – 2 vs 1
Match 2: player(s) 1 vs 1 – 3 vs 3 – 1 vs 3 – 3 vs 1
Match 3: player(s) 2 vs 2 – 3 vs 3 – 2 vs 3 – 3 vs 2
In the above scenario, each of the 3 players will play 2 matches each, if only 2 players attend on the day, they will play  all 3 matches.
Divisions are created according to experience/ability of each team.
The first 2 sessions will provide organizers with evidence of the playing  level of each team and therefore promotion and relegation will be used so as by the third session, teams will be placed in a division relevant to their standard.
The final 2 sessions will provide the overall results  with the top team and top player from each division being  awarded trophies. These will be presented at the Leicester league presentation evening (date to be confirmed) in 2023.
Suitable footwear should be worn and white shirts are not permitted during play as this can impact on the vision of the (white) ball.
Players from each team will be expected to umpire their matches.
Parents/carers are welcome to watch but may leave the venue provided they return in good time before play finishes, which is 1.00pm at the very latest. Some matches may be completed up to an hour before this time.
With the exception of water, no food or drinks should be consumed in the sports hall, however, refreshments are allowed in the foyer area.
You are welcome to bring your own, but the venue does have an onsite cafeteria where food and beverages can be purchased.
    Enjoy!
